Living as Children of God

Getting to Know You:

  • Talk about a “famous” family member or
    something significant someone in your
    family has done.

Going Deeper:

  • Why do you think God wants to relate to us
as Father? Look up the following verses
about God being our Father and discuss
how he relates to us as Father. Ps. 103:13-
    14, Matt. 7:11, Lk. 11:13,
  • Romans 8:13 tells us to kill the flesh. What
are some practical tools we can use to
    accomplish this?
  • Romans 8:16 tells us about the confidence
we have as children of God. What other
confidences or assurances does God give us
to help us know we are saved? Look up the
following to help you answer. 1 John 5:10-
    13, John 5:24, Matt. 7:21, John 8:31-32,
    John 10:27-30
  • Discuss the connection between suffering
and glorification according to Romans 8:17.
  • Why does it matter that we, collectively, are
co-heirs with Christ? How then should we
treat those who are in Christ, but with
whom we disagree or have different
    opinions, or belong to different
denominations? Why is this so crucial? Use
1 John 4:7-12 to help answer.

Taking It Home

  • Spend extra time talking with you Father in
prayer this week. Meditate on the reality
that you are a child of God in John 1:12.
